My Lord God,

Grant me a spirit of obedience to Your will.

Grant me a portion of the obedience, peace, and joy of Jesus. Who knew from the beginning of time what His purpose would be for us. Who knew He would be broken and despised, oppressed and afflicted, wounded and bruised, stricken and cut off from the land of the living, born in a stable, a stable I know from experience what that smells like, laid upon a manger, in what can only be described as the very humblest of beginnings.

Grant me a portion of the Spirit of Jesus who professed love to a people He knew would crush Him, who professed forgiveness to a people he knew would crucify Him. Who knew it was Your will to crush Him with pain. Through whom Your will shall prosper. Through Whom many shall be made righteous as He will bear their iniquities.

Born of a virgin, a just shoot of David, in Bethlehem, Emmanuel. Alleluia. Our Messiah is born. The word made flesh. The light of the world. Salvation, Truth, Love, Healing, Peace, Joy.
