Dear Lord Jesus,

Grant me a poverty of Spirit, a complete emptying of myself to You with sacrifice and obedience to You. Grant that I am not half-hearted, only obeying what I choose to follow and lifting myself up because I am so good at following the things that make sense to my human understanding and the world finds acceptable.

Forgive my ignorance, ego, and pride, my foolishness, my thinking that I know better than You, that any man can discard the parts of Your word they don’t agree with and form new churches and communities in fellowship with the world.

Grant that I wholeheartedly embrace Your word, Your miracles, Your Spirit as it moves today. Grant that it moves in me. Thank You for how You reveal Yourself. Thank You for Your presence on the altar, Your precious body and blood sacrificed for us. Amen.
