“I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other; for all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted.” Luke 18:14

Dear Father God,

Have mercy on me, a sinner. Remove my ego and pride, the source of so much hubris.

Have mercy on me, a sinner. Prepare me for the daily battle with the evil one. Open my eyes, remove the deafness from my ears, remove the darkness from my mind, soften my heart, heal my soul.

Grant that I see others the way that You see them.

Grant that I empty myself so that I can be effective for You. Allow me to be a blessing to others. Lead me to people that I need and to people who need me.

Grant that my children rely on Your strength and not their own, and be able to walk humbly. In Jesus’ name, amen.
